Who are your staff?
Our staff is made up of caring, energetic people who love kids and are capable of creating a safe, welcoming environment that is conducive to learning and having fun. They have teaching, mentoring and childcare experience as well as formal and informal culinary training.
What will my child be making during class?
We make everything! Though we will always err on the side of healthy recipes with lots of pretty, colorful fruits and vegetables, we have not forgotten the sweet treats! Our recipes are fun and the food is delicious. The recipes we plan, the ingredients we use and the basic cooking skills necessary for the recipe are age-appropriate.
Will my child be working with sharp knives, open flames and extremely hot temperatures?
No. The use of knives is reserved for smaller classes with older kids. This information will be given within that class description. Press’ kitchen is a smaller kitchen and will be in full operation during the time at which our classes are held. Therefore, the only person permitted in the kitchen at this time is the instructor. The instructor’s time in the kitchen will be minimal as it will be for the purpose of completing the final step of a recipe (baking) or a step that requires a quick warming or saute. If the kitchen has some down time, we will be able to take a quick peek inside!
Are you able to accommodate my child’s specific dietary needs or restrictions?
We will work with you to accommodate any specific dietary needs or restrictions your child may have. This may include but not be limited to the substitution of an ingredient or the suggestion of enrollment in an upcoming class that features a recipe more suitable for your child. While we can restrict an ingredient, our kitchen is not nut, nut oil-free or kosher.
Can children with disabilities or special needs attend your classes?
We love and welcome all kids! We provide a safe, warm and fun environment that is open to any child wanting to learn more about food and cooking. We can make the special arrangements necessary to accommodate and meet the needs of any child wanting to attend an Oven Mitt Kids! class.
Are you affiliated with Press Coffee Food Wine?
Oven Mitt Kids! is independently owned and operated and is not affiliated with Press Coffee Food Wine.
